Raised in the so called 'Truth'. Baptized in my early teens.
Disfellowshipped by early 20s. Came back late 20s, because I missed my relatives so very much.
Doubts and extremely slowly fading since the '1914 generation new light'.
Leading a 'parallel life', as Bill Clinton calls it, sure stinks at times. For the most part, I cope well with my situation.

whilst shopping today i met a young newly married witness couple.
whilst i havnt been in a kingdom hall in over 2 years.
they were very friendly and it was nice we could talk on things other than safe-subjects.

The world is getting smaller as there's much more communication between the masses, so this attitude is changing fast.

well i would love to picket some conventions in north and south carolina, i live in tennessee and the closest one away is johnson city about 80 miles from me, however there is a good possibility that some of my witness relatives from ky might be attending there.
the next closest ones to me would be winston-salem nc, columbia sc, or birmingam alabama.
these other locations are just a little too far for me right now and with gas so expensive i just dont think i could afford the extra expense right now.
We seem silly to people while going house to house preaching, but just as silly picketers seem to conventioneers. Believe me.
Both activities are a waste of valuable time.

the badger pup and i were getting ready to run some errands today when he chirped up.... "daddy, do you go to meetings?".
a toughie...the look in his eyes was pure curiosity.

Yes, all children at the KH I attend are in fear of dying in Armageddon. I know while I was growing up, and it was an awful feeling. I feel sad for those children.

i was talking to an elder the other day, and he told me that the governing body had all moved to walkill to because jehovah wouldn't let them be destroyed.. but, i thought, weren't some of the gb in walkill anyway?
and if this is the case, why would they build that massive residential complex in the dumbo area?
are bethelites expendable if a terrorist attack did happen?.
All bs; just invented rumors.
Based on their history and recent patterns, whatever they did or are doing has to be financially motivated and nothing else.

here is my dilemma - short and to the point, need advice.
i met a man several months ago who is jw and we hit it off from the first night we met - (met in lounge) - and then spoke to him on a few occasions.
he admitted to me the first night we went out that he was married, at first i wasn't sure if i should pursue this, then he just swept me off my feet.

By his actions, as you mentioned, this man you're dealing with is not a JW. He's a married man, leading a double life, and you're in for a lot of heartache.
For your own well-being, please quit now while you're ahead.

i'm new and this is my first post.
when i was in the truth, i remember how we were encouraged to cultivate a personal relationship with jehovah.
we were to think of him as our friend and to rely on him soley.
I've had bouts of feeling close to God. Hasn't been that way for a very long time, though, because I'm angry at how any loving God would allow all this wickedness to continue. However, my anger doesn't matter because who am I before such a great force? I'm less than dust, really!
My resolve lately has been to just ignore God and go on living my life the best I can for its duration.

a friend of mine was approached by a asian family living here in the u.s. that wants to get a family member, a 18 year girl living in the south east asia region here to america.
they want my friend to get married to this girl for a year or two so she can eventually become an american citizen.
the family living here has offered to pay for all expenses; my friends air ticket over there and back along with any other expenses incurred plus a lump sum payment upon her successful immigration here to the u.s. my friend is maybe considering it but he hasn't even seen a picture of the girl yet and he is somewhat older(about 9 year difference) than the girl.. now if they fall in love or consemate the relationship, that's totally up in the air and i guess open to bargaining and my friend would totally be free to get a divorce once the girl gets to the u.s. i did ask some of my friends what they thought, and everyone pretty much said no.
Sure! Plenty of people do it. It's a business arrangement in which both parties benefit when it's all said and done.
In order for me to go through with it, there must be at least $10,000 free and clear for me. Business is business!
